Abby Manor: Bunkroom
Build by Jensen + Sons Construction | Photos by Lacey Alexander
As we wrap up the blog series for Abby Manor, we are ending with one of our favorite rooms – the bunk room! While designed for our client’s grandkids, it might be a favorite hangout spot for kids and adults alike.
When crafting this space, we were inspired by places our clients love and have connections with, specifically the Scandinavian countries. Drawing from traditional Scandinavian elements, we designed the bunk bed with natural knotted wood and patterned details. The millwork team at Riverwoods Mill did an amazing job of bringing our designs to life. We then incorporated folk prints in the quilts, drapery, and hand-painted knobs. For the artwork, we used some of our client’s existing pieces that reflected a similar style to classic Scandinavian children’s art.
When choosing color, our client wanted a red, white, and blue room, as they did in their previous home. We brought in these fun colors in the drapery, rug, pillows, blankets, painted knobs, and artwork. Lastly, we added built-in cubbies, allowing all the grandkids a spot to put their belongings in when they come to stay.
We loved bringing character and detail into this room. Whether it is a bunkroom, kitchen, or guest bedroom, we work to incorporate personal elements that make each space feel like home.
